Our Heritage
On May 17,1962 Central Christian Church was officially
organized. A meeting was held at the Shelter House in Lawrenceville
City Park An invitation was extended to all that desired to form a new
congregation. Twenty-three people responded and began the necessary
work involved to purchase the Alexander Store Building on the Corner of
Ninth and Christy Streets.

In November 1966 fifty families fulfilled the obligation
and liquidated the $15,000 debt on 2.5 acre of ground. They did this
in just three months time.
In 1967 one hundred thirty-four people were in attendance
to vote on plans for a new building. The estimated cost of this
building was $105,000 with approximately $6,650 in labor to be donated by church members. Ground breaking was held on May 21, 1967.
This indebtedness was liquidated in approximately 9 years!
All congregation members pull walking plow to break ground
for the new Central Christian Church building.

Even back then Central Christian was a "Together We Can!"
Congregation.

The first worship service in the new building was May 5,
1968. The dedication service was held November 24, 1968. In a
few short years the congregation had grown from a few dedicated individuals
to God's beacon for Lawrence County.
