Kids Shopping Day is a not-for-profit agency. We are a faith based ministry designed to provide gently used or new school clothes. We are supported by 19 different churches, business, private donations, grants and fund raisers.  We are registered as a not-for-profit corporation, with a 501(C) 3 recognition.

Along with backpacks, school supplies, bath hygiene items and Bibles to the children of Lawrence County. In 2007 we added shoes for school to this list. This agency provides a personal shopping experience for each child. Each child will be paired with a personal shopper to pick out his or her own clothes and shoes for school. There is no cost to the families.

While this event was designed to serve the impoverished children of Lawrence County, this is available to any child - no questions are asked and no applications are taken. Our small rural county has a population of approximately 15,000 people. It has been estimated that 28% of the households have children under the age of 18. The median household income for families is $37,050. But 10.7% of the families are living below the poverty level.

2006, we served 161 Kindergarten through 5th grade.
2007, we have expanded to serve pre-k through 8th grade. We served 280 children that year.
2008 we served 391children.
2009 we served approximately 425 children!!!

We have estimated that it costs approximately $125. per child to provide the items they need to start school. While we receive many clothing donations, we must still buy a large portion of the items we provide. A donation would help us to prepare for August 2010. Please help us to reach out to the impoverished children of Lawrence County.  We need over 100 volunteers on August 7th to handle that many kids.  We are almost ready for August 7, 2010.  thanks to the help of everyone in the county.
